WHAT IS ACCREDITATION
Accreditation is a process of evaluation that determines the extent to which Standards are met. There is institutional accreditation, which examines the school/institution as a whole; and there is programmatic accreditation, which examines individual programs within the school/institution.
WHO IS THE COA PSG
The Committee on Accreditation for Polysomnographic Technologist Education (CoA PSG) became a member of the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) in April 2003. The Committee on Accreditation for Polysomnographic Technologist Education in cooperation with CAAHEP is to establish, maintain and promote appropriate standards of quality for educational programs in polysomnography and to provide recognition for educational programs that meet or exceed the minimum standards outlined in the accreditation Standards and Guidelines for the Accreditation of Educational Programs in Polysomnographic Technology.
HOW DOES ACCREDITATION BENEFIT ME
Accreditation provides assurance that educational programs are following national Standards that have been developed by the profession. In addition, graduates of CAAHEP-accredited polysomnography programs are eligible to take the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists exam ( BRPT exam ).
